Hangin’ with Lydia Lee: Mandy Lion, The Advice Sage
Filed under: Advice, Comedy, Hangin' with Lydia Lee, Interview, Music, News, Podcast, Uncategorized
This description (available on iTunes), says it all:
Lydia Lee talks to Mandy Lion about crotch sweat while wearing leather, three-breasted alien women, perverts and the internet, and his shows for charity May 25 & 26 in Nevada–all part serious/part funny, entirely entertaining!
Gasping… for…air… LOL

Mandy gave me yet another great interview. I spun the comedic aspects of talking to him, but the reason he’s such a great interview is because he’s honest and heartfelt. Even when giving a funny answer to an absurd question.
Among the many things we talked about, we discover that Mandy does not sweat in his leather pants because he has fans built into them that, incidentally, bump his “trouser pet”–but in a good way. We now know that three-breasted women are common in The Heartland; he tells us a very funny story about playing Whitefish, Montana with Jake E. Lee; assures us that the internet is good because it helps freaks meet other freaks; and that literally millions of women raped him after his last serious relationship. Practical, sensical, applicable stuff!
On a serious note, please support Mandy and his band when they play Las Vegas, Nevada on May 25th (link here), and Reno, Nevada on May 26th (link here). In conjunction with U Rock On and The Green Army Foundation, they are raising money to help our veterans repair their life after combat. Mandy mentioned an organization called Helmets to Hardhats that helps veterans transition into construction work–link here.
Anything I can do to help Mandy share his hilarious (albeit twisted) humor and good works, I will do. He’s a terrific musician and human being, so check out all of his links and support him!! He’ll be back on “Hangin’ with Lydia Lee” very soon.

Mandy Lion at The Rainbow
Mandy Lion is a friend, legend and all around badass. It was a thrilling performance that he gave at The Rainbow’s 40th Anniversary open air concert with two new people in his lineup this past Sunday evening.
First of all, the entire show was fun and entertaining. We showed up in time to catch most of Rattlehead’s performance. They have a good solid sound that we enjoyed.
(Ratthehead, first band of the day)
Next up was Desecrate; another awesome band with a tight, solid sound. They were being urged to wrap up with only two minutes of playing time left, so they played their last song in, literally, two minutes. Ha!! I don’t know if they normally play it that fast, but it was pretty fast. (lol)
(Desecrate from the second floor or The Rainbow)
After Desecrate, a band played with a redheaded female–awesome voice, by the way–but I cannot find them in the original lineup. It’s possible they replaced someone. Cold Blue Rebels were next, and they were… interesting. One descriptor I found is “Psychobilly”. They sounded good. The lead singer and upright bass player had make-up bullet holes on their head, but it only added to their theatrical appeal. After that, London played but I missed it because I was hanging out with Mandy and his entourage, stage right.
We did not get to see Pretty Boy Floyd or Don Dokken. There was a band setting up to play inside, but we stayed outside, so I don’t know which band that was. What I do know is that Mandy was absolutely right. Shannon Bizzy (bass), and Daisuke Wachi (guitar) are amazing!
Shannon Bizzy–if I can remember how Mandy said it–is the return of Suzy Quatro… even though Suzy Quatro is technically still around… (lol) She’s under five feet tall, cute as a button, and smacks the bass around like it owes her money. Seriously, she played hard and amazingly well, and Daisuke Wachi is just sick on the guitar.
(Shannon Bizzy and Mandy Lion)
Mandy has played with some of the best musicians around. David DuCey from Rhino Bucket played drums (always amazing!–met him in 2003 when I met Mandy for the first time), and David is just one of many. So when Mandy says his new bass and guitar player are a couple of the best he’s played with, that’s really saying something. They sounded great and put on an awesome show. My photos are crap because I left the good camera behind in my haste to get down the hill, but make no mistake, if you can see Mandy play, you must. The music is heavy and powerful and his friends are always the coolest people at the party.
Mandy is playing at The Underworld in Las Vegas on May 25th. (Link here.) May 26th he’s playing the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno. (Link here.) The shows benefit our veterans, so show your support!! May 27th is the release party for his single, “World Gone Wild”. I will be interviewing Mandy again next Tuesday, April 24th, so he can fill us in on any new details! Hangin’ with Lydia Lee: Mandy Lion Interview
Filed under: Comedy, Hangin' with Lydia Lee, Music, News, Picture, Podcast, SQUEEEEE!!!, Uncategorized
For this week’s podcast I interview friend and rock legend Mandy Lion. … SQUEEEEEEEEEE! <– That, my friends, says it all.
Am I right, or am I right? No? Okay, I will elaborate!
Seriously, Mandy Lion is a living phenomenon, and now if I can get him to podcast with me regularly, you will get much more than conversation about ‘nipplage’ and how most men should stay home and masturbate and not ruin females’ lives by being around (a poignant observation Mandy made that we will expound on in the future!).
Mandy is playing an open air show at the world famous Rainbow on Sunset Boulevard this coming Sunday, April 15th, with several other acts–Pretty Boy Floyd, London, and more!–to honor Rainbow owner, Mario Maglieri. You must go, you must see the show! Link here.
On May 26th, Mandy is playing for US Veterans at The Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. He talks about that during the podcast, so listen. It is hysterical, informative, awesome!! Link here.

Mandy Lion Interview Next Tuesday on “Hangin’ with Lydia Lee”
Filed under: Hangin' with Lydia Lee, Interview, Music, Podcast, Uncategorized
Mandy Lion isn’t just an established musician who’s played with the likes of George Lynch, Jimmy Bain, and Jake E. Lee (just to name a few). He’s an animal lover and dog activist who particularly advocates for “fighting” dogs (pit bulls, molosso romanos, mastiffs, etc). He keeps rock alive, drives a motorcycle the size of a house, owns a hearse, and is one of my closest friends.

You’ve probably heard many Mandy Lion interviews, but you’ve never heard one like this! I’m going to get Mandy to open up about our first encounter at “Porn Star Karaoke”, his upcoming shows, music, plans, his favorite Pink Panther movie, and whether or not he should start his own relationship-themed editorial. (To a guy asking what’s wrong with “bitches” and why a woman won’t go out with him: This girl was trying to be nice to you when you asked her out. She was trying to protect your obviously fragile male ego so she complimented you and tried to let you down in the nicest possible way. You didn’t get it the first time so she continued trying to be nice to you until she finally realized you are neither smart nor man enough to take a hint. She found out that unless she tells you to f**k off you won’t go away. – LOL!!! Link here).
Look, all I know is that aside from loving his badass, heavy-hitting, gritty, balls-to-the-wall rock-n-roll music, Mandy is also one of my FAVORITE people on the planet. He’s pretty damn perfect… minus his owning a dog so large and protective that you can’t actually get close to him. Ha!!

I will tweet about it all week and several times on Tuesday at https://twitter.com/lydiaannlee! SQUEEEEEE!!!!!

Check out the latest “Hangin’ with Lydia Lee” podcast!
Musician and guitar virtuoso, Tony Gamble, talks about growing up in L.A., the unexpected pitfalls of fame, how he came to love the ukulele, as well as his latest album “Echoes in the Silence” and a health turn for the worst that he is using to make the most of his future endeavors.
Tony isn’t just a great guy, he’s a friend, and I’m thrilled that he so graciously allowed me to ask him questions and find out more about what he’s doing.
You can download ”Echoes in the Silence” from iTunes next Friday, March 23rd, and you can hear four songs from his album during the podcast: “Beautiful”, “Broken”, “Sometimes” and “Ukeus-Dorkus”–a funny name for a gorgeous instrumental.
Thank you, Tony!!
I’ll be posting next Friday to remind everyone to go and download the album!!
(You can find existing albums from Tony Gamble and The Tony Gamble Band on iTunes (“Breaking Tradition” & “Read Between the Lines”), check out Tony’s YouTube Channel, and don’t forget to ”Like” Tony’s FaceBook Fan Page!!)
Some of the weirdest songs I’ve ever heard
Filed under: Comedy, Doug, Music, Opinion Piece, Poetry, Stalker, Uncategorized
I’m feeling goofy so I have to share this. I have been listening to the radio as I work lately, and a few songs have played that made me stop and do a double take. Some songs are just like that. They’re just so bizarre you wonder if you heard the lyrics correctly. Well, I have heard a number of these songs over the years, and all I can say is, “WTF??”
“Into the Night” by Benny Mardones has to be one of the freakiest stalker songs I’ve ever heard. Every time I hear the piano lead-in, I have to hold back my vomit. And for some odd reason I almost always hear it at Togo’s as I’m biting into a Santa Fe Chicken Wrap.
“She’s just sixteen years old leave her alone, they say…”
Yeah, they say that for a reason. It’s called “pedophilia.”
“Separated by fools who don’t know what love is yet”
Whether or not they know “love”, they know the law.
“If I could fly, I’d pick you up
I’d take you into the night and show you a love
Like you’ve never seen, ever seen”
Might as well just say you have a pit in your basement and you collect human skin.
“Invisible” by Clay Aiken is just as bad. Well, minus the pedophilia… that we are aware of, anyway…
“Whatcha’ doin’ tonight
I wish I could be a fly on your wall
Are you really alone
Who’s stealin’ your dreams
Why can’t I bring you into my life
What would it take to make you see that I’m alive”
Some chloroform and duct tape?
“If I was invisible
Then I could just watch you in your room
If I was invincible
I’d make you mine tonight
If hearts were unbreakable
Then I could just tell you where I stand
I would be the smartest man
If I was invisible
(Wait..I already am)”
Careful, honey. That pervert is is waiting for you in your closet right now!
This one isn’t a perv song, it’s just literally the laziest song in the world by a band called Snow Patrol. “Chasing Cars” sounds so busy, though!
“We’ll do it all
Everything
On our own”
That’s the first verse. Wow. That would be pretty inspiring if it were at least a fucking haiku.
“We don’t need
Anything
Or anyone”
Kids and their heroine these days.
“If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?”
What are you, quadriplegic?
“Forget what we’re told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden
That’s bursting into lifeLet’s waste time
Chasing cars
Around our headsI need your grace
To remind me
To find my own”
In other words, “I hope you have a job because I’m a deadbeat and I plan on making a permanent dent in your sofa and eating all your eggs and Cheerios. But I love you!”
“Copacabana” by Barry Manilow has to be the perkiest depressing song I’ve ever heard. It’s so cha cha cha, but if you listen to the lyrics, it’s a travesty!!!
We know that Lola was a showgirl with yellow flowers in her hair and her dress cut down to “there,” but once we get past the familiar lyrics of this super upbeat song, we find out that Lola’s boyfriend Tony was shot by some dickhead named Rico. And then what happened Barry??
“Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it’s a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she’s lost her mind!”
AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! That is the most tramatic thing I’ve ever heard in a song!!! Merengue anyone?!!!! “At the copa….”
This one’s just funny because I used to love it and then Doug pointed out what was not obvious to me. This is “Take It On The Run” by REO Speedwagon.
“Heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another you been messin’ around
They say you got a boyfriend, you’re out late every weekend
They’re talkin’ about you and it’s bringin’ me downBut I know the neighborhood
And talk is cheap when the story is good
And the tales grow taller on down the line
But I’m telling you, babe, that I don’t think it’s true, babe
And even if it is keep this in mind”
Then he goes on to say that he doesn’t think she’s cheating on him. Doug: “What a fucking whining pussy!” (lol)
This song makes me roll my eyes every time I hear it. It’s so arrogant and ridiculous. I love some Elvis Presley songs, but this one is priceless!
“It’s now or never,
come hold me tight
Kiss me my darling,
be mine tonight
Tomorrow will be too late,
it’s now or never
My love won’t wait.”
No pressure or anything. I really love the big crescendo at the end. “My dick won’t wait!!!”
I love the song “Stagger Lee” by Lloyd Price, and I love “Hey Joe” by Jimi Hendrix, but I am more than slightly mortified that they are encouraging the men in their songs to murder another human being. So your wife or girlfriend cheated on you, Joe. Dump that bitch and let it go, man! I hope you speak Spanish. And Stagger Lee?
“”Stagger Lee,” said Billy,
“Oh, please don’t take my life!
“I’ve got three hungry children,
“And a very sickly wife.”Stagger Lee shot Billy
Oh, he shot that poor boy so hard
That a bullet went through Billy
And broke the bartender’s bar.”
Oh my God!!! That’s horrifying! And then they merrily sing “Go Stagger Lee!” over and over and over and over again. Good Lord!
“Secret Lovers” by Atlantic Starr is a train wreck of a song. You are seriously singing so romantically about something that would tear your spouse’s heart out and serve it up bleeding on a silver fucking platter? You are sick!
“Here we are, the two of us together
Taking this crazy chance to be all alone
We both know that we should not be together
‘Cause if they found out, it could mess up
Both our happy homes”
Soooo happy! So happy you’re banging someone else?? Wait, is this Joe’s wife? I change my mind. Shoot that hussy!
A Merry South Park Christmas
I was perusing the net looking for subversive holiday music and came across this South Park album, Mr. Hankey’s Christmas Classics. And it is perfect. Now, not all the songs from the album are in this player, but I am adding a few videos after…
I hold a special place in my heart for holiday songs that include Satan, so…
This is the worst! So awful… so funny!!!
A Merry Mithras Song!
I haven’t been given permission to credit the lyricist or the performer, but I was given permission to use the audio file and add the lyrics in a video, so I present to you, “Merry Mithras!” (I’ll have to learn how to do the bouncing ball at some point. lol)
UPDATE: This lovely song comes courtesy of The Two Dawsons.
Billy Joel Friday!
Michael Eivaz sent me this Billy Joel picture after I mentioned really wanting it in one of last week’s posts, and it made my day! Thank you, Michael!!! His photography is amazing and he sells his work, so support this talented artist by visiting his site and buying his fantastic pictures and/or getting photography instruction. I will as soon as I am able!

The picture made me happy and inspired me to relive the Billy Joel : Live From Long Island concert through YouTube. I used to own this VHS tape, but I wore it out because it’s such a phenomenal show. I thought I’d share it with you on this holiday weekend.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and I hope you have an even more wonderful weekend.
Happy Birthday John!!
Happy Birthday, John Lennon!!! Head over to Capitol Records and show your love. Think of me while I’m moving furniture. (lol)
