Questionable Pink Cross Foundation Financial Records – Video

When you go to www.thepinkcross.org and Shelley Lubben’s site, you’ll find in several places the phrase, “Get the facts.” I happen to agree with the importance of getting facts, because life is quite simple when you look at it simply, but the fact is, Doug and I have had a very hard time understanding a lot about Shelley Lubben and Pink Cross Foundation aside from what really appears to be a lot of misinformation. What began as just a few genuine questions because I, myself, having been a sex worker, care about sex workers and sex worker rights and the motives of people who lend their hand to “help”, has snowballed into many questions, because there isn’t much evidence to suggest that this organization does much to enhance anyone’s agenda but its own. Shelley Lubben seems to really be against sex workers, and I can’t help but wonder why. We made this video, in fact, because there was no way to get everything down in writing without giving up. It’s just way too much for a mere post.

I’ve had a few commenters here and on other sites suggest ridiculous reasons for why I am annoyed that Shelley Lubben and Pink Cross Foundation want to shut down the industry and harass women that don’t want their help, but what I don’t think these people even consider is that I would prefer to find a pure motive in all of this. Their argument is to suggest that I just want to attack, but I would rather know that Shelley Lubben really just wants to help people  who want her help and will do anything to give it to them, but I can’t even see in Pink Cross Foundation’s tax returns where much is really geared toward anything but further exploitation of sex workers. It’s beyond opinion, at this point, so I invite anyone to explain to me what I’m missing in all of this. I’ve read people suggest I’m jealous and even just angry, but none of the accusations point to solid, reasonable answers. I’m a writer, I interview people, I ask questions. I know quite a bit from experience. I mean, who can comment, that has been in the adult industry, and has really tried to get out by really struggling and starting over without marrying someone who took care of them? If there really is a five thousand dollar cap on the amount of yearly help Pink Cross Foundation gives to people trying to leave the industry (if the funds are available), who in the know can tell me how that is very helpful, except to duck under the amount of reportable money, which just happens to be five thousand dollars? Look, we don’t even go into that because that is speculation, but Doug walks through every bit of hard evidence in the documents that you can pull directly from the organization’s website and asks very clear, legitimate questions. If anyone can answer, reasonably, any of the questions we pose, please enlighten us. I did quit the industry cold, and I lost everything very quickly. From what I know, based on hard facts, turning down the money I’d already worked hard to earn in exchange for a tube of lipstick and “maybe” some money is not helpful. Based on everything we have found and not found about Shelley and Pink Cross Foundation, I would suggest anyone needing help out of the industry avoid this organization and find another way. Leaving porn is not glamorous, and “getting the facts” means actual investigation. We are really just trying to get the facts. It may not be as glamorous as Shelley Lubben and Pink Cross Foundation, but it is honest. Maybe someone out there can help us figure it out…

The arrow looks like it points to his garage. the url is http://www.kingoftaxes.net. We got a great laugh out of that website, but many people work from home and struggle to make ends meet. I’m sure the $1500 they listed for accounting in 2009 was for 2008′s return, which was a different preparer. I’m hopeful that this company didn’t actually do this return as it was presented.

    For the record, I tend to be pretty damn critical of Obama (if from the Left); and I don’t quite think that either Julie, Cocaine Inc., or any other critic here brought Prez O into this debate, either. I’ll just let them speak for themselves.

    $140K may not be a lot to some people, but when it’s grabbed from the back pockets of porn performers seeking only aid and guidance and getting nothing more than lectures about their evil and “sin”, then it does matter. Besides, Jasper, you do believe in stoning women for far less crimes, right??

    Perhaps you should stop harassing Julie and Doug and focus on saving your own folk….isn’t there some closeted “ex-gay” minister trolling for rentboys or hooking for young girls you could be better witnessing??

    Yeah Doug I work from home too and bookkeeping/taxes as a small business is suitable for that, but on the otherhand I don’t call myself “King of Taxes” hahahah.

    I would not be shocked if they turned out to be a family friend of some sort of the Lubbens honestly.

    BTW, I commented when you guys first looked at their tax returns that she paid 40+% of the income to herself and wondered if that would increase commensurably as donations increased…and lo-and-behold, donations doubled and so did her salary, despite the fact that she states she actually worked LESS hours in the second year lol.
