Hi. This site pays tribute to a character I played, but no longer cater to. Now I'm just Lydia Lee.
I quit working in the adult industry in 2005 to get married and begin a new phase of my life. In 2009, I took up blogging as a way to contribute by sharing my experiences. The aim was to shed a human light on the life of the adult performer, for fans and non-fans. I accomplished that as best I could and am now trying to figure out how to incorporate my experiences into a future field of study and research; into a larger world view, basically.
I got involved in some issues within the industry, and while some of these issues are being played out in the legal arena, only time will tell if any of these dramas actually lead to a safer work environment--and tolerance from society--for adult performers, and sex workers in general. There are abusive people involved in the industry, from within and without. The online area of the industry is one of the most vindictive I've ever seen, and the height of that was a hate site called PornWikiLeaks that involved the breech of an adult industry database that was uploaded to the internet complete with actor's real names, drivers license numbers and social security numbers. There are real problems that are being addressed behind the scenes and in public. People who are vying to make pornography illegal are in it for public recognition and endorsements. They don't actually care for the people in the industry. If you're not sure, you should read Eric Hoffer's The True Believer. It is more often than not the people who proclaim to care the very most, who actually care the very least.
My blog follows industry goings on, and while I had taken a break, I feel compelled to write again, at least from time-to-time. In the past, I tried to stay as impartial as possible in my attitude towards the industry, while being very really on the side of caring for industry performers, but I got drawn into defending a performer friend, and that led to me writing some very anti-porn-specific articles. I eventually had to stop because it was taking over my private life. I do not want to become an industry news site, and I don't want to only write about certain issues. In the end, I try to contribute a positive view, however small, and welcome critiques that help to shape my understanding of the industry from a cultural standpoint.
Ultimately, this site has served a deeper purpose in that it has helped to solidify my relationship with my non-industry husband, to whom all of this is dedicated, as I have ultimately come to realize that my every effort has been a subconscious gesture toward explaining my heart and mind to a gentle man who has not the faintest understanding of adult industry mechanics and issues. Through my writings I am exploring my past sufficiently enough to navigate the future.
I have a personal, non-industry website at this link, and welcome you to visit me there, as well.
